I haven't posted for a litle while and I wanted to update everyone on my progress. I went back to see the OS on monday for my post op follow up and it was mostly good news in that everything looked to still be where it should be. But she didn't like that the swelling hadn't seemed to have gone down enough for her liking. I was really hoping to get out of the splint on monday but she didn't want to put a cast on it untill the swelling went down more. She splinted my leg back up and sent me home with another appointment for this friday. The rest of the week was pretty much un-eventfull with the only change being that Emily has spent the last 3 nights here instead of going home. She says it's easier to look after me that way! Things have progressed with us and I think we could be getting back together. No one has offically said it yet but it feels like it. So any way, went back to the OS again today and FINALLY... no more splint!!! I'm so happy to get rid of that thing! I actually feel like I'm getting somewhere now in the healing process. That stupid splint was really getting on my nerves. It has been 3 weeks in that ugly thing since my injury and it definatly time for something else! So now I have a brand new fiberglass cast and it feels better already. Still NWB but I'm just glad to be out of that splint. Emily and I went out to eat afterwards to kind of celebrate and it was great to join the "land of the living" again. Except for the OS appointments, I've spent all my time inside with my leg up on a bunch of pillows. It was a little difficult getting around but, it was worth it. I go back in 2 weeks for another visit and the OS says she may change my cast again to make sure it's stays tight but at least I'm allowed to do a little more than just sit in the recliner all day with my foot up! Anyway, things seem to be headed in the right direction and although it will be a while before I'll be able to get around without crutches, for the first time since this happened, I actually feel like I'm starting to get better.
