Tara_H : Fractured Fibula carrying my toddler
Diary entry posted Wed 9:46am 28 October 2009
So here's how my story goes...
On the morning of October 22, I was just walking to the car with my daughter (2.5 yrs. old) in my arms. My left foot slipped off the side of our blacktop parking area (6+ inches off the ground) out back of our home. Then to protect my daughter I kinda placed my body under hers to support her fall. When I did, my left foot came under she and I and I felt a pop. OH CRAP, I BROKE MY ANKLE! I knew it right away. I laid there on the grass as my poor daughter kept saying, "Mama, are you okay?" while tearing up. I grabbed my purse and called my husband to come quickly as I believe I broke my ankle. He arrived 7 minutes later, brought our daughter to the neighbors and brought me to the ER. After the x-ray they came to tell me I had fractured my fibula. I was then put into the CAM Boot and sent home with pain meds and a phone number for a followup with the OS. My appt. was made for Monday the 26th. They did a stress test x-ray and told me it was going to be very painful for them to do this. I luckily took my pain meds an hour before, it ended up not hurting what-so-ever... phew!!! They told me that I would be NWB for 6 weeks. The hard part for me is that I am a stay-at-home mom with a very "spirited" toddler who is in the 2nd month of potty training.
I have my next appt. with the OS on November 19th. Praying they put me in a smaller brace at that time and PRAY PRAY PRAY I am healing well! Healing to all!!! Thanks for reading! =)
