I saw my OS nine days ago, and he gave me the green light to remove the boot and put weight on the leg "as tolerated". I started outpatient PT this week and it's going well. In fact, I took a few scary steps with a cane! I know that my situation is not nearly as dire as what many of you have faced. I'm back working full-time, but I find it extremely difficult to spend several hours with my leg on the ground, so I'm doing a lot of work from home with my leg elevated. I don't know what I'd do if this weren't an option...the swelling gets really uncomfortable.

In two weeks we're driving 800 miles to Boston (from Detroit) for a wedding. I'm comfortable driving now, but I plan to spend lots of time in the rear seat with my leg elevated. (Our Taurus X is great for this--I can sit in the third row and rest my leg on the second row, part of which I can fold forward.)
