Comment : Gotta love horses
Posted by Kristin on Mon 10:36am 12 July 2010

I broke my tib/fib falling off my horse on May 23. I had just got her back from the trainer two days prior and had worked up the courage to get on her outside the round pen. My ride lasted as long as it took for me to fork her. I believe she kicked out while I was in the air and she caught my right leg a few inches above my ankle. The next day I had a rod placed through my tibia along with three screws, the fibula left unmended. On July 1st I was given the OK to bear full weight. It has been strange to go from zero weight to full so soon and is very difficult to do. I’m not in pain, but I walk with a hop/limp and hope that practice and time will sort it all out. I can’t go very far without help, and I’m still swollen. I miss my horse (with whom I hold no grudge) and I miss running, but I believe an optimistic attitude is key to mending. Remember, we all could have had it much worse. I hope your progress is a steady one. =)
