Comment : Looking for "Euphoria"
Posted by Robynne on Thu 8:22am 12 July 2001

This is just a small update while we wait to go back to the OS. On Friday 29th June the family doctor rang us to tell us he would be away for 2 weeks on vacation. As of this writing he is still on vacation. Andre had enough percocet (oxycocet) to last another week, so we figured we could ask the OS for a repeat when we needed it. Come last Friday (6 July) and it was time to call the OS. She was out of town and wouldn't be back till the 15th. There were no other doctors available to give us a repeat prescription. So we ended up calling the local doctor who does housecalls. He called in, on Sunday after the last of the percocet had run out, and all he was able to prescribe was tylenol-3. I duly obtained the prescription, and by Tuesday the tylenol was all gone as well. Tylenol-3 does not do the same job as percocet. Yesterday (Wednesday) Andre was in so much pain. He says he never realised just how much pain the percocet was hiding. A day with no painkillers is extremely painful and very draining on the body and mind. He was just sore and achey ALL over. We rang back the OS office yesterday morning and demanded that someone fax through a prescription for percocet to our pharmacist. They finally did so around 6pm. At 8 pm last night, Andre finally got his first "hit" of percocet in 6 days. This morning he took some more and finally that "euphoric" feeling is back.

*Huge sigh* Oh the hassles of dealing with doctors during the vacation season.
