My God! The golden period for surgery is within 24-48 hours after surgery. After which there would be too much swelling and fluid. You should strictly elevate your leg so edema will subside, then they can do surgery. My situation was similar in that I received surgery for my tri-malleolar fx 10 days after my injury. This is because the accident occured abroad. The problem you will face is stiffness after and dead skin with delayed wound healing. Manageable though. A month and a half after surgery I can already walk with a limp without crutches.
