Yup, tri-malleolar ankle fracture, right leg requiring 5 screws and one plate. I was about to swim when I slipped and fell on my everted foot... heard something snap..then all the hardship. It's been 6 weeks since my open surgery. After being on a posterior mold cast for 3 weeks, then a Range of motion boot for another 3 weeks, I can now bear weight on my involved leg, though I have a limping gait. It still gets swollen and it's painful when I step on it. My OS tells me it's normal- it'll swell even more during the early days of walking. It feels as if I have a terrible sprain. Anyway, I'm having my rehab since range of motion is most important now. I don't want to have a stiff ankle, and to have arthritis or impingement in the future. I can't wait til the pain goes away. I wanna go around! I trust my OS after all, I'm also a doctor.
