Pat_L : Frustration Diary entry posted Wed 7:37am 25 July 2012 In my post this morning I failed to say anything about your inability to do anything after this surgery and that is the toughest part. A lot of people go thru depression, I went thru frustration. Let's face it, it is what it is, and you have to do what they say to get your life back. I read an interesting blog about someone with the same injury thought he was doing so well and pushed himself only to pay in the long run. My doctor has told me over and over that this is a major injury, not just a sprained ankle so be patient. Easy to say. Listen to your doctors and make sure you tell them what you are experiencing with pain or swelling. Pushing to get mobile quick is not the answer with this injury. You may push yourself into doing the whole thing over again and who wants that? Sacrifice now for results later, focus on others and their trials and tribulations. There are people out there with worse problems so try to keep positive... This isn't easy to get thru but you will. Tomorrow will come and day by day you will feel better. The first two weeks were hell and the third and fourth weren't any better. But now into my 7th week it feels great as long as the leg is elevated. Once I stand the swelling and discoloration of my foot is still there. I try to wiggle my toes all day, which was quite a feat. I couldnt bend my toes at all in the beginning due to the swelling but now it is getting better. I pull my knee to my chest and just feel my muscles and tendons crying from no use. But, this feels good when I do it. At my last visit my leg looked smaller which it is.... I didn't focus on it, just made jokes about how gross the skin looked... Make light of your issues and you will get by, you can do it. Back to Pat_L's homepage |
