I go a big surprise at the OS on Wednesday....I have a screw in my heel, ta-duh!!!! My OS is awesome but he is from I think, Nigeria!?!? (I forgot cuz I asked him in a pain med haze)... anyway, I think he skipped that part in my pre-op session or it got lost in translation! I was so shocked to see it on the xray.
Aside from that he said "You are a good healer!!" after looking at my stiches and xrays. Then he said "Now why are you here?" he's too funny! I am lucky to have a doc w/a sense of humor and he is good at his job.
So I am now the proud bearer of a hot pink half cast, still NWB for four more weeks but I feel more confident moving around cuz it's so protected and coming upstairs tonight to shower took about 10 minutes, yay!!!
I am in a much better place in healing, it doesn't seem so hopeless. I am looking forward to becoming more and more mobile. At 5am this morning, I was hungry so I got myself a glass of milk and a banana and a snack pudding!! It was my first self-serve meal since surgery 2 weeks ago and, wow, was it delicious!!
My goal is by next week to be strong enough to come upstairs by myself without getting half way up and being afraid of sliding back down!!
P.S. If you've had a baby, you know how everyone says you forget the pain of childbirth once you see that adorable baby that's all yours? Well, that's how I feel about my hot pink cast...it is so cute it was worth the pain, but I will NEVER forget what I had to go through to get it!!!!
