Ok, so I didn't post right after, but here I am now. I've been walking really well and love that they decided to take some screws out. The surgery wasn't too bad. I waited in the waiting room for about 5 minutes when they took me back to pre-op. I was in pre-op for about an hour and a half b/c the surgery before me was taking longer than the doc thought it would. It didn't really bother me b/c it was still early and I'm not a morning person. The anathes. dr. came by and asked if I wanted anything to relax me but I turned him down. So after a while they came and got me and took me to the surgery room. Talk about COLD. I already had 2 blankets on me and had to ask for another one. After putting the juice in my IV I was out in a matter of seconds and the next thing I remebered was coming to in the recovery room. I must have been crying b/c I remember sobbing while waking up. I'm not sure why but it may have had something to do with my accident. They took the screw at my knee and one at my ankle, the pain wasn't excrutiating but it did remind me of being in the hospital. Not a cheerful time. So after about 20 minutes in recovery they let me go. I used crutches to get into the van and then into the house where I sat in front of the TV all day. The pain was more like an ache but it hurt to bend my leg and I kept the pain pills coming. The next day after I slept in for a while, I loaded up my car and drove home. I could feel the difference instantly when I started walking again. I had to resort back to taking showers with the shower chair b/c of my newly exposed road rash but all in all it wasn't that bad. I've since then seen the doc for a follow up and he says it's looking good. He wanted me to start using a bone growth sim. but I have no insurance and vocaional rehabilitation won't pay for it b/c they say that they've never had much luck with them. I go to see the doc this thursday so I'm sure he'll mention again about me getting one. I'm going to insist that the other screws in my left foot come out. They are bothering the heck out of me. It'll be 6 months on the 9th of Sept. WOW, 6 months. Sometimes it feels like time has stood still, other times it feels like it's sped up. If I'm feeling chatty I'll get on and write about how the visit went and if I scheduled my last surgery.
