Today I experienced the most horrendous pain I ever have in my life. I have been given a box of co-drydramol which is a paracetamol with codeine. It takes the edge off but the throbbing is intense, I spend the whole day in bed as I need help to get up and I need help to go to the toilet (herein referred to as loo!)
It is so embarrassing, Owen has to hold my leg in a comfortable position whilst I empty my bladder or bowels - we found a more dignified way later in the day, which is to use the floor bucket as a rest for the leg, of course to get up I try and use the crutches but I am new to them and need someone to steady me while I clean myself after using the loo!! Which of course I have to call on Owen, it is humilitating for me, but he says that he loves me and he is not bothered by it.
cleaning my teeth and washing my hands has now become a family event! it takes so long, I now have to sit on the loos seat and luckily I have an electric toothbrush which is easier to use with crutches!!! I start to worry how on earth I would get downstairs in the event of a fire with no-one here to look after me during the day. We agree it would be a good idea for my sister in-law Sandra to pop in at least once a day to check if I need anythiing. I lie back on the bed and cry like I haven't cried before, I am so uncomfortable and I can toss and turn, I just have to lie there, feeling very sorry for myself indeed. :0(
