Many orthos. put their patients on Fosmax which actually stimulates bone growth to help with healing.

You might also what to ask advice from an Endocrinologist who specializes in diseases of the bone. They are up on the latest medications that help stimulate bone growth.

Last of all I have heard of surgery that removes the "dead" bone area if that is what has already occured so the healthy bone will grown and fuse together. This was done with my brothers shoulder and it healed nicely afterward.

I'd save this surgery for last and try various bone stimulating medications first.

Also if you haven't done so already get tested for diabetes just to make sure sugar isn't part of the problem.
