Hi Helen

I do hope you have had your operation now and back at home.

Reading your diary of how the accident happened makes me cringe as thats how I broke my leg just over 12 months ago from landing from me feet after a jump.

I really cannot believe the behaviour of your friend, her delay in getting you an ambulance could have cost you your limb or your life and I do hope she realises this. I hope your OH is okay from the shock of all this too.

I was lucky as I had a sensible friend with me when I came off at a Riding Club jumping comp. The organiser thought I'd just sprained my ankle but I knew it was broken. I got someone to ride my horse back to the yard whilst said friend drove me to the hospital. Thankfully the car was near but the journey was excrutiating!

I had plate and pins in tibia and was back riding, although only for short stints, 4 months after the operation. It has taken a long time to build up riding but I am back doing it despite having a few problems with the leg that I am back under the consultant for.

I wish you all the best in your healing and a very speedy recovery. I hope your friend is either very apologetic or is now off your christmas card list!

Take care. Sharon
