Could anyone explain the process which determines how the swelling of ankle and foot will end?
I understand that the lymphatic system has been damaged and needs to repair itself.
However, would this happen anyway if we did nothing or very little? No elevation, icing, massage or exercises?
Is the length of time of each icing/massage session etc., and overall, in terms of months, critical?
Apologies if I have not explained myself clearly: just thinking of the relevance of each action to the long-term recovery - or not.
If we do all that is asked of us, will the swelling slowly lessen then stop? How are some people left with one type of ankle and others less or more so?
Any thoughts/knowledge very welcome!
