Meli, If you have pain meds from your OS, and you have instructions to take them, you should take them. When I was in hospital and on the post surgical meds--they skipped my regular meds to regulate my pain. The pain can only exacerbate all of your metabolic systems. I don't presume to be a med professional, but do what the OS told you to do--take the painkiller--it is short acting and you need it!
