HAD MY SURGERY - NEED HELP BADLY!!!

Hey gang! I posted but must not have pushed the button.

I had surgery on Monday. Will give details later but longer than anticipated. Now what I need help with most is pain control. They gave me Oxycodone (has Tylenol in it) every 4 hours for pain. I only took one on Monday evening because I still had about 1/2 of the nerve block working. It helped but as the leg began to wake up one Oxycodone didn't work so I took two (says on the bottle I can). It helped a lot but made me itch all over. Not horrible but irritating. This was all last night.

I woke up at 3 this morning in the most horrible pain I can remember ever having. Childbirth cannot touch this! I now know every cut and stitch they made (bones, ligaments, etc.) even though I cannot see them.

I called my pharmacist to see if there is something better to control pain and she said to talk with my doctor. Well I know he is in surgery all day today so I probably won't get to. The pharmacist said that I was "pushing the pain"; meaning that I wasn't taking the Oxycodone often enough, like in the middle of the night. Now I suppose I should set an alarm to wake me up to take it or something. I have been sobbing for about 1/2 hour so I took two Oxycodone with a Benydrl. I also have a Polar Care "Cube" ice machine he built into the splint that is running. It never feels cool to me at all but maybe that is normal.

I don't even know what questions to ask here and the meds are kicking in and confusing me so I will just sum things up as quickly as I can:

1. In horrible pain.
2. Meds on hand:
Oxycodone
Benedryl
Phenegran creme for nausea
3. Meds I take every day of my life:
Xanax .5mg 2 times a day
Klonopin 1mg 3 times a day

PROBLEM: Huge pain, worried about taking too much medication with my required daily doses of Klonopin and Xanax. I fear depressing my respiratory system and heart rate too much (BP is never an issue to lower too much).

Please help me figure out what to take when or do you think I should cut some of my regular meds?

Bi-Mal fx 2007-Never healed. New OS/Surgery 8/6/2012-Cancaneal Osteotomy 2 screws heel, HDL tendon transfer, Achilles Lengthening, Spring Ligament repair-HWR Tib/Fib-Large splint w/cooling pads. 8/14-8/24 2012 had 3 casts-8/28 air boot. 9-18-12: PWB.
