For those of you who have/had syndo screws in while weight-bearing, how do you know if those screws have broken? does it hurt?
I have 2 syndo screws and am scheduled to get them (or one of them, not sure) removed in a couple months, but my OS told me to start weight bearing already, so I have. She said the screws may break as a result of WB, but nevertheless she wanted me to go ahead and work towards getting to FWB (while still in the boot) and have the syndo screws removed later. . she said it's not a big deal if it breaks.
my PT didn't think the screws would break even if I were to be FWB because I don't weight that much (115 lb ; I lost weight since this whole BL thing).
so...how do you know if the screws have already broken? does it hurt? Do you "feel" it break? (gross?). Would the screws break if I'm still in the boot while WB and thus not flexing the ankle? I wouldn't want to "feel' it break (might trigger some panic!) even though I know the OS said it's OK if it does.
