Hi everyone! I'm new to this site. I fractured my tibia and fibula on 6/30/12. I was roller skating with my kids at the rink and just lost my balance and my right ankle completely collapsed inward and my leg snapped. I had surgery the next day. Apparently it was a very serious fracture with bone fragments and multiple shatters. I have a rod and one knee screw and two ankle screws. No cast, for which I am thankful. It's been three weeks now and my ankle and foot are still very swollen. My foot is also turned outward. I have seen two doctors and neither seem to know why my foot turns outward. They think it's no big deal but it bothers me so much. I have mostly been lying in bed with my leg elevated and iced. I have a 7 and 9 year old so this has been exceptionally challenging for me. My husband, parents, inlaws and friends have been amazingly helpful. I don't know what I'd do without them. My dr says no weight bearing for 3 months so that puts me at 9/30. I'm starting to go a little nuts. I can't drive and my kids are involved in all kinds of activities.
I'm happy to see this support group!!
