I have a Type IIIi tibial plateau fracture on my right leg - no surgery. I'm in a hinged metal leg brace with 40 degrees movement at the knee. 2 1/2 weeks post injury.
So, the problem I am having is I have to sleep on my back because of the brace. I am sleeping with a pillow under my leg but I am waking up with terrible back ache every morning (usually around 5 am and then can't go back to sleep because of the back pain, ironically my leg, though a bit stiff is not painful in bed)!
So is there a way to protect my back whilst keeping my leg slightly elevated? I can't keep my leg flat on the bed as it pulls at the back of my knee (fracture is on the back).
I don't want to recover from a broken leg to find I've trashed my back!!
Thanks
Maddie
