I remember calling about this! I called my OS and asked if I should be "pushing" myself to put my leg down. They said NO! SHe said it's actually best if you elevation because it promotes circulation. When you put your leg down, the blood pools and does not circulate. Better to keep it up. When I got to maybe the 3rd week post surgery I was able t put my foot down without feeling that terrible pain! At about 4 weeks post op I could put my foot down for maybe 20 minutes at a time. PT is still telling me to elevate if it bothers me.
2/17 bimalleolar ankle fracture (fib/tib) not displaced
2/29 ORIF (2 plates and 7 screws) - soft cast for 2 weeks
3/15 removable boot NWB
4/12 WBAT - in boot
5/14 walking unaided
6/28 - Fibula plate removal
