 Institute for Better Bone Health
Boneguru    5:51am Jun 15 2012

Everyday in the office someone asks me "what can I take to help my fracture heal?" or "what can I take to help prevent osteoporosis?". The same questions seem to come up on this forum fairly often as well. We usually would just mutter the usual.."take calcium and vitamin D". In response to this, a few of my fellow orthopaedic surgeons (including myself) formed The Institute for Better Bone Health to see if we could come up with a better answer to this common question.

My colleague, Dr. Charles Price, has spent a few years of his life researching what you really need for bone health maintenance and fracture repair. The end product is a combination of often missed nutrients that are needed for optimal bone health and repair. It is an over the counter supplement, much like normal vitamins.

I've been around these forums for the past few years and your questions have helped me to become a better doctor in communicating with my patients and understanding their needs beyond plates and screws. If nothing else, check out our website for some good information on what we think is important for bone health.
