Hi guys,
I'm WBAT and have been told I can drop to one crutch when I feel ready. When I stand still I can put a little over 50% weight on my left leg with no pain, so I think I am close to ready. However, when I walk with two crutches, I struggle to put much weight on my bad leg - not because it hurts, but because I'm struggling with the mechanics - I am transferring weight from my left hand to my right side rather than my left, or worse, to my left underarm. I feel like if I switch to one crutch that will force me to put more weight on, but I am worried about doing it safely.
Any ideas? As usual this is a mental as well as physical battle for me. Should I just wait until I see the physio (next week) to try, and stick with two crutches in the meantime?
Thanks!
