Did your OS clear you for pwb in your cast? I had ankle surgery with 5 screws and a plate and I too could move my ankle around in my cast, but was not allowed any WB until 6 weeks and that was only really rolling my boot with crutches, so PWB. It really depends on your injury, healing time and what your OS says. I couldn't put FWB until 8 weeks after boot was removed. I would get the ok from your OS before attempting any WB.
Lat Mal ankle fx w/syndo injury
4/13 ORIF, plate w/5 screws
4/16 cast NWB
5/17cast removed, boot NWB
6/04 boot removed, ankle brace FWB
6/06 syndo screw HWR, still FWB
6/13 lap cholecystectomy
6/24 back to work
