Biking is definitely easier, but practice starting and stopping some place away from traffic first. That's the hard part. Also, you may want to not use a cleat on you broken leg side at first. I found it impossible to release the cleat for some time.

June 2011 with knee brace and shoe wedges, finally pain free;
January 2012, left leg TPF, NWB for six weeks, post-traumatic osteopenia
March, WBAT, April 2012-released from PT
