I wore the boot for six weeks. I was able to take it off as I please and only had to wear it for whenever I was going to WB. I almost wished I would of left it on more since maybe my dorsiflexion wouldn't be as bad.
As far as the stitches....it will hurt a bit. Nothing compared to what you've felt already post surgery. Just little pinching pain.
01/22-dislocated Trimall fracture
01/23-Surgery for ex fix NWB
02/17-ORIF 2 plates/11 screws Splint cast NWB
03/02-cast NWB, staples out
04/05-25% PWB, put in boot
05/17-FWB no boot
