I'm at loss and am glad I came across this group today. I'm hoping you can help.
A little background: On Christmas Day 2011, the skis of my husband and me got entangled as we got off the chairlift. I was going one way. He was going the other. When I came loose, I fell flat backwards. My ski ends anchored in the snow and my tips crossed in the air. Inbetween my legs were pretzels, like a Cirque du Soleil reject. (How do those performers do what they do?!!!)
The only diagnosis I had since then was dislocated kneecaps. I walked unaided. Went to physical therapy. Stationary bike at home. Then about a month ago, the unrelenting pain became unbearable and I ended up in an emergency room.
Finally two weeks ago, I had my first MRI: tibia stress fracture about a quarter inch below my left knee. The doctor put me on a cane. I asked for an MRI of the other leg.
Monday I had my second MRI: plateau tibial fracture at my right knee. (Neither fracture is displaced.) I'd already started using crutches because the cane was making the pain worse. (Now he says either crutches or a walker. No surgery. Can swim, but that's it, other than upper body.
Knowing what you know what would you do now when so much time has elapsed? I'm in shock. And afraid. Thank you so much in advance.
