Beth-
It is definitely something to get examined and soon. I developed Plantar Fasciitis in my broken foot during my recovery. I tried to return to running within a few weeks (undoubtedly way too soon) after the cast came off; it was painful at first and then hurt too badly to even attempt jogging by about 6 months after I was out of the cast. PF is an inflammation of the ligament running from your heel to the base of your toes—I had never heard of it before it flamed up, but it eventually hurt as badly as my initial fracture. It just continued to get worse, but only occurred in the foot I broke, and I developed a heel spur too. Physical therapy/home exercises, frequent icingand over-the-counter & expensive custom orthotics did not help much. My podiatrist finally resorted to putting me into a boot for 8 weeks to see if it would help, and now my PF is still in remission 4 weeks out of the boot.
Good luck.
