Katrina V 11:57am May 20 2012
I am not sure why exactly they look different but some of mine did as well.
I also had fracture blisters on the medial (inside) of the ankle. My OS delayed surgery for 2 weeks in hopes that they would reabsorb or "heal themselves" - - they did not, so when he did the ORIF he had to treat them, he de-roofed, antibiotic, and covered them with a special dressing. I was then in a splint and did not see them until a week later at my post-op, and some were just the circle (like you would expect from a popped blister) but a few were big purple/black circles. I was afraid they would scar like that. I am 5.5 weeks post op (ready to walk in a few days) and the big purple/black circles are gone.
So while I can't really say what caused some to change into that color I can tell you that it shouldn't be permanent and that they should eventually go away without another huge scar.
3/31/12 - fracture tib/fib with syndesmosis tear -
4/3 - OS appt- fracture blisters - delayed surgery
4/13 - ORIF - 2 screws / 2 rods
5/3 - cast off - boot on still NWB
5/10/ - x-rays - PWB as tolerated
5/16-starting PT
