I am also unsteady on my crutches, and have been using mostly a walker at home. The walker, unfortunately, is impossible to use getting up the landing into my front door. The past three days I have been using the walker when changing clothes or getting in and out of the shower, because it provides more stability. I use the crutches to get in and out of the house to someone's car (can't drive myself), and around the house, and then the wheelchair when I'm out. I have also had many friends criticize my use of the walker instead of crutches, and it is extremely annoying - why should they care what works best for me? Just ignore the comments and do what works for you.
