I highly recommend forearm crutches (also called Canadian crutches). They offer much more stability and are much easier to use and maneuver with. And you can hang a bag on the handle to carry things. I felt really unsafe with underarm crutches and was afraid of further injury. With the forearm crutches I felt much safer.

11/18/11 start PT, FWB with crutches
12/19/11 out of boot, using cane, work PT
2/27/12 back to work FT
