Elizabeth2 : For adding insult to injury, call the experts... the INSURANCE COMPANY
Diary entry posted Sat 6:30pm 4 August 2012

I was set to have my stitches removed last week, on Thursday. I've been looking forward to this appointment for almost three weeks, and I had it all built up as the first sign of REAL progress. That was my first mistake. On Wednesday, the OS's office calls and says my insurance company won't authorize any further follow-up appointments. WTH?

I spend the better part of Wednesday going back and forth between my insurance company, my MD, and the OS. The MD and OS are being WONDERFUL. The insurance company is NOT... they expect a new, as yet unspecified OS to take over my care before the stitches are even out of my leg. Really?? Is this considered NORMAL, accepted medical care? I don't think so.

Thursday is cancelled and I'm bummed, still sporting a leg full of stitches which have been there over four weeks now. The new,'in group' OS looking over my file has YET to decide whether or not he's WILLING to actually accept me as a patient so I've worked out a deal with the old OS's office to remove my stitches on Monday.

I have a couple of days yet to figure out how much I want to fight with my insurance company over 'continuity of care'.
