Bummer, but it will get better. Sounds like you had one of those Z pack antibiotics, which is a good idea to prevent any infection. With that pin backing out, no wonder you were hurting.

From the research I've done (and my OS comments), the holes have to fill in and heal. My OS said they take several weeks to fill in completely, like the standard 6 weeks for bones to start to knit.

Stitches are much better than those staples. Your foot sounds like mine when I had the syndo screw out: big stitches, lots of bloody gauze that had to stay put, and a giant ace bandage.

Use your crutches please if you need to get around. One crutch just for balance and to take off the weight? Congrats on the July 5 return date.

Cooking here. The hot, hot, dry midwest summer is here. It's 100 degrees in the shade on the deck. We haven't had any rain in June, and we're heading for drought. The farmers are upset because their corn will croak if we don't get some rain soon. I'm watering my gardens and baby trees like crazy.

Love the midwest. Freezing cold in winter and baking hot in summer.
