Dave_K : Physio - Day one (well day two actually)
Diary entry posted Mon 2:09pm 18 August 2003

Had my first physio visit last week, wasn't too painfull at all!

Actually, all we did was do some measuring range of motion from one leg to the other, and some wieght bearing for fun. My PT was fairly impressed with what I could do, until we did this little excercise where you press your foot up against the wall, and then see how close you could get your knee. I could only get to about within 8cm of the wall, but with my good leg, I could get 12 cms away from the wall with my foot and my knee still touching the wall. "You need some serious streching my friend" I was told.

As far as wieght bearing, I could comfortably handle 140lbs, and up to 160lbs before it really hurts. (too bad I wiegh 220!)

Day two - postponed over the weekend because of the power outage, so today I got beat up!
Well, not really, but she really put me through the paces, stationary bike, leg presses, extentions, etc. and then, the STRETCHING (aagghh!) My comment was "I don't suppose you'll stop if I tell you this hurts" response was "No, trust me, you NEED it"
But, on a positive note, my wieght bearing is up another 25lbs in only a few days, and I'm doing only one crutch comfortably, with the exception of stairs, which are still a little tricky (I had a few really close calls on the stairs with my cast so I've developed a minor phobia!)

So, with the daily streching routine and an every other day visit to be man-handled, I'm hoping to be walking somewhat normally in a few weeks.

Maybe I'll get that round in on the golf course well before the snow!!
