Hey, well I just broke my fib and tib too, fell off my horse Jan 19, 2006.and it snapped right in half, a clean break of both bones, almost sticking up through my skin on the inside of my left leg, was so gross! It was such a stupid fall. Ive had so much worse and never broke anything..
I have 2 plates and 10 pins..after reading all of these comments and stories I am terrified. I had the surgery the night of my accident and it has been 2 weeks now in a fiberglass cast and the swelling is still throbbing and cannot sleep at all, and I can also feel the plates in there..like my skin is crawling around it..does anyone else who have plates or pins feel this..like an achy crawling around your ankle? Just want to know if this is common and also, any suggestions on sleeping positions??
My doc says I cannot put any weight on it for 6 weeks, so I have 4 to go, but with the pain and swelling, I cannot see myself putting weight on it that fast..I just hope I'll be back on a horse soon..its my business!
