Been reading the messages with great interest, am 49 years old and been a long term runner most of my life. Broke the tibia about 20cm above the base - now some good news, had the traditional lowere leg cast for 6 weeks and the weld is complete. Doc said that long term excercise probably helped my case. Foot looks fairly abnormal, pretty swollen still, but 7 weeks on I am walking, with a slight limp and no pain. Suggest good diet and plenty of positive thoughts - even went on my wifes stepper machine tonight for 10 mins. Hang in there, there is hope.
