Comment : Re: Spiral fracture of fibula. Skating?
Posted by Lou Canick on Wed 7:52pm 5 March 2003

I feel your pain, Tom.
I did a spiral fx of the right fib on Feb 26. What I did was put my foot down as the little dirt bike we just got for the kids slipped out to the left. I thought I had sprained my ankle. Next morning, it was still very sore and I had to follow Dr. Mom's orders (my wife!) to go get it checked. The P.A. we saw thought it was probably just a sprain too, but ordered an xray. The xray confirmed the spiral fracture. Nuts! So I have a cast up to my knee and on crutches until a 2 week reevaluation. The fracture is lower than the bottom of the big tendon. The ortho dr. said if it was higher, they would have had to do the screws, etc. Glad that didn't have to be done. But still bummed that I'm the victim of my own actions..and having to put everyone else out as a result.
Hang in there...hope you heal OK!
