My leg was broke above the ankle as well, IM Nail in Tibia and plate with 9 screws in Fibula. At first I could feel the plate and some of the screws when moving the foot. It has been 10 months and I only feel the plate occasionally.
It does not hurt just feels odd, like a pull.

The first time I felt the screws I had the creepy crawlies. Just thinking that they were in there was weird. Now I don't even think about it. Time sure works well.
