My daughter was taking tylenol with codeine for her femur fracture. I took darvacet with my fibula and knee fracture years ago. When they stop the meds, I took 4 -- 200mg. ibuprophen. Ask your doctor sometimes they will prescribe this as a 800mg. ibuprophen. Make sure you eat first though! It does work really great. Other pain meds are addictive so I am sure they are just watching out for you. By the way my 8yr old and me both have low tolerance for pain too. Good luck with recovery! It has been 3 1/2 months for my daughter and she can finally walk again. She only was knocked down at recess and broke her femur. Requiring a plate and 7 pins. It makes me feel better to see so many people also get severe injuries from something so simple.
