HI Anthony - welcome to being a brokenlegger. You will find lots of stories and help here - it is amazing to read postings and say - "wow that sounds like what I feel". It sounds like you have had a rough few months but you are in good spirits - keep them up - and keep you leg up too- it really helps.
I broke my leg in the ocean, at Fire Island NY, and I get the same reaction you get - it is not the expected place - but that is why they call them accidents. I hope you keep improving
