Hi Robbyn!

Thanks for checking in on me. I have not tried driving again, yet. My husband and I are holed up this week since he had throat surgery on Monday. I sure hope this is it for our surgeries. I too have spent time "talking" to my truck and patting it telling it I would be back. How goofy is that! Here I have a 2 1/2 year old truck with 10,000 miles on it; it's pathetic! If you read my whole diary, I had had some hormone issues leading up to a hysto just six weeks before I broke my leg, so I haven't been able to drive a whole lot. That is about to change! I will try again when my husband can get out of the house from this latest surgery. I find that breaking isn't too bad, the movement of the gas pedal is a little painful. And just having the foot hanging down a lot is a whole other issue (don't know how to get around that one). But, it was a WONDERFUL sense of freedom getting behind the wheel after being so dependent and incapacitated for so long. YEAH! As for our remodel, we just finished some measurements needed for the draftsman before my husband's surgery. We had just about finished our garage addition (for all our tools) which had to be done before the kitchen as it ties into the garage, when I broke my leg and my husband messed up his knee. Once my husband heals this week, it is time to go back to the draftsman, then to the engineer (since we are in the snow zone), then to the county for the permit. I am glad we were not right in the middle of things like you were. That has to be really tough. We had to go through a really strong winter with nothing but a temporary roof of ice dam material on our garage, so we really need to at least get the framing of our kitchen done so we can roof the whole project with real roofing material. I hope once we get going, we can just bang it all out. I'm not sure how much I can do at this point though, with my leg in it's current shape. That kind of sucks. Oh well ... Kind of funny how many home-improvers are ending up on this site. How's your addition doing? That's got to be tough with you not being able to help like you are used to. All the best to you Robbyn! Annie
