Annie : Oh Yea, I Remember This - Life Staring at My Feet!
Diary entry posted Sat 8:52pm 24 December 2005

December 24

Wow, what a difference a day can make. I woke up today attempting to walk on the ball of my "surgical" foot using my walker. By this evening, and after using my thera-bands and gently coaxing my foot to move and flatten out, I had actually taken my first few tiny steps, first with the walker, then with one crutch, and finally gingerly without anything (the Frankenstein walk is definitely back!). Wow!!! Of course I am back staring protectively at my feet with each step. The surgical site is still sore as it heals and my foot gets stiff really fast and can really hurt if I try too much (and everything is so much more exhausting), but I can see improvement. It's like a year ago, one little step at a time. The neat part is that they come a lot quicker than before. That's a relief!!!
