Annie : Slow but sure - Progress
Diary entry posted Sat 9:29pm 26 March 2005

Mar 26 (11 weeks) I went for a gorgeous walk today, looking up at my mountains, covered in thick snow. They are my therapy. As I walked, it felt as if another portion of my foot had awakened. My gait was much more even, and my speed had definitely picked up. I did about 3/4 of a mile. Yesterday was another PT session, and my therapist worked on massage and rotation. I think each time he works on my foot and ankle, another small portion wakes up. I notice that the swelling which remains, also improves. PT has been so good for this injury. My therapist also had me do more 1-leg presses with my bad leg. He had to up the weight! Yea! I feel like there is still some quad left in my leg. My therapist also watched me attempt to stand on the ball of my bad foot (1-legged), and decided that I needed to back off on that a bit and let my ankle/foot toughen up a little. Oh my, those hurt. With almost no calf muscle (it's slowly coming back), standing on the ball of my foot is REALLY hard. I keep pushing myself a little more every day. I also rode my bike on its rollers for 25 minutes, for ROM and to try to get some cardio. I am making progress!
