Comment : The hardest days
Posted by Hilary on Sun 12:05pm 10 July 2005

If you makes you feel any better, the first two to three weeks seem to be the hardest. Once your body starts to get back to normal and the pain begins to subside you'll feel better. Check out the diaries here, you'll find some real encouragement that this too shall pass.

I broke my tibia and fibia in a car accident on April 8. I just passed the 13 week mark and am finally walking on my own some. Of course I look like Frankenstein but, hey, its progress. You can check out my diary some night when you're having trouble sleeping. Unfortunately, from my own experience and that of others on this site, the sleeplessness gets better but remains long after the healing progresses.

If you can place a pillow between your legs and roll gently onto one side, that might help with the sleeping. Of course I'm a side/stomach sleeper so being on my back for months was most uncomfortable.

Happy healing!--Hilary
