Comment : A Tri-Mal Pal
Posted by Annie on Sat 5:02pm 7 May 2005

Hi and welcome!

I broke my leg on Jan 7 and ended up with a tri-mal fx. I had surgery with two big screws put in on my tibia, and a plate with 6 screws put in on my fibula. My posterior tibia pulled mostly into place when those other two bones were fixed. I am about 17 weeks post break (please feel free to read my diary it you would like; I have timelines and pretty thorough descriptions of PT etc.). I was allowed to begin WB at 4 weeks, and by 9 weeks I walked into my OS's office without any crutches. I am still trying to learn how to walk without any bad habits, and PT is coming along slowly but surely. We're all on the same journey, even though our story lines are different. Please feel free to ask lots of questions; we're all here helping each other along. We're all healing at our own rate and in the best way we can. These breaks are the ultimate lesson in learning patience. All the best to you in your journey of recovery. Annie
