Ann : progress not perfection
Diary entry posted Sat 7:06am 19 June 2004

Still 1 week+ before the next os appointment (8 weeks nwb and counting) where I desperately hope I'll get the green light for pwb. For all my training and work tagging logs, my arms and upper back haven't been this strong in years, and the difference in hand strength is quite noticeable - perhaps the only benefit of this bl. Anyway, the leg/ankle feels good - if that's the right word. On those occassions when it hits the floor with more force than it should, it used to hurt something awful - now nothing.

Been training now for 3 weeks. Each class getting more adventurous. Earlier this week worked on kicks from a stationary position. For most kicks I can use my bl (no weight), for some, I improvise with crutches - spin kick because I can't push off with the bad leg yet. Last night added movements to the kicks - kicking and stepping forward or backward. Worked on forms - patterned movements, but was having a dyslexic night. These are limited to hands only and without my legs I was completely unable to sort out my movements. As an instructor, this is embarassing.
After my first class back, my legs and hips were sore for a week, same thing second time out. This week just a bit stiff, the kind that feels better by stretching.

So I'm focusing on the difference between obstacles and limits. I'm pushing at the limits to see how firm they are, and it appears there is some room to move. So here's hoping for good news on the 29th.
