Angie_B2 : 1st Physio appointment
Diary entry posted Mon 11:58am 16 December 2013

Had my first physio appointment today. I have to say, I was very impressed. She really seemed to know her stuff and had all my surgical notes to hand. Instead of just guess-working it, she went through the paperwork with me thoroughly first and then explained WHY I needed to do the things she was asking me to do. Previous experience of physic's has never been like that - it's always been 'do this' and 'do that' with no real explanation but not today. Today we went through the forthcoming ACL surgery, what to expect, the rehabilitation and how for the next few weeks instead of concentrating on ROM, it was more important to build the strength of my hamstring and quads. I was expecting me to have to force my knee to bend but thankfully I could already achieve 122 degrees today without help (compared to the 90 degrees before surgery) so the focus really is on building up the strength of my leg prior to surgery in 10 weeks. And, instead of weekly appointments, I've got appointments every 2 days at 30 minutes a session so I came away feeling like together, we'll really achieve something here, hence I'm smiling : )
