Angie2 : Getting there!
Diary entry posted Sun 8:44am 27 January 2008

So its been 13 weeks since my accident...and I seem to be doing quite well according to my OS. I went back to work 2 weeks ago and have traded my large limp for a smaller one. Stopped PT but plan on going back once a week for 4 more weeks just to try to get that little limp to go away...they said the more I walk the better it will be over time. I keep wanting to go back to Muay Thai but I dont feel ready...I cant run or really jump too hard on it and I dont want to push myself back at all...I really cant afford to be off work anymore than I already was, 11 weeks is enough for me. I am slightly disgruntled with my OS, every time I bring up doing certain activites all he always says is if it doesnt hurt do it...when I asked him what could cause a rebreak or hurt it again he said falling would hurt it...so hmmm wouldn't kicking with it and having contact in the gym and kickboxing cause more harm? He doesn't seem to want to really discuss it and it frustrates me, I want to go back but I dont want to start recovery all over again. I had a personal victory the other day...I could wear a pair of high heals without wanting to die, I could walk around my house a bit, no pain, but I dont know how long I would be able to walk around in them, I didnt want to push it and I dont want to wear them outside since its snowy and icy here. Ill just keep in shape running after the new puppy! lol Well one thing I have noticed is that when sitting at my desk at work for long periods of time I get a crampy feeling around the area that my fibula is broken and not alined, stretching really helps with this. My ankle still swells to a small degree and I have small clicks in it sometimes, sorta like cracking your knuckles, my OS and PT said this was normal and unless it hurts dont worry. So, all in all I'm getting there still walking slower than I used to with a small limp but hopefully with some work I'll be back to myself in no time.
