Comment : Welcome from a Tri-Mal Pal

Hi Angela!

I just read your story and am sorry to welcome you to the site none of us thought we would ever be on. I broke my right ankle slipping on ice Jan 7th of this year, so I am a real "oldy" on the site. I have the same trimalleolar fx as you with two big screws on my tibia and a plate with six screws on my fibula. If you would like to read of my journey, feel free to read my diary. I have timelines and descriptions of my PT, as well as the chatter stuff. I am at about 8 months post-break, and last week I went for my first real run, a two mile trail. I can't do that but about once a week, but my pre-break life is returning. I hope that gives you encouragement. As for the pain, it really annoyes me that doctors or people seem to think they know better than you how your pain should feel, how long it should last, or whatever. I can tell you, I have felt the weirdest versions of pain ever with this break, and at times it was breathtaking. I am still dealing with versions that come and go for no good reason; at least the severity is really manageble now. Keep pushing for what you need and be the squeeky wheel. As an RN you know that when the pain is more under control better healing can take place. All the best to you in your recovery, Annie
