Comment : Feel your pain! Broken Tibia and Fibula, Happy New Year!

Hi! My name is Tracy and I am 38 years old. I too broke my tib and fib on New Years Eve. I live in Alaska and all I did was slip on the ice 20 minutes prior to ringing in the New Year! I am two weeks post op tomorrow and still have the same post op splint you spoke of. I have my appointment on Wednesday to have my staples removed and cast put on. I am told that my bones shattered like crystal and this will take months and months to recover from and am not to put any weight on my leg for 3 months. I have 4 young children ages 12, 10, 8, and 6 and my husband is a pilot in the Coast Guard. I am grateful my mother in law was able to come here from NH to help out for a month or so. I had a job at a my kids elementary school but it looks like I may have to resign since I am not able to do my work at home. I am trying to stay positive but it proves to be difficult some days. I know that I am fortunate to be able to heal and should be happy about that. There are so many in this world that are permanently disabled and would dream of knowing that in 6 months or so they will walk again with normalcy. I am holding on to that to keep my negative thoughts down :) Anyway, just wanted you to know that your not alone. Take care and speedy recovery! PS. One questions. Did your toes turn blue when you got up then turn back normal when you went back to elevating your leg?
