Andrew_S : Part IV, Post-Op to Present

if you want to see a picture of my leg the day after the surgery, go to my myspace:

Within a week, I finally had sensation again in my foot, but it was not the sensation that I wanted. Pins and needles. My leg was bruised purple from my buttock to ankle. I looked as if I had been beaten with a surgical 2x4.

I started physical therapy about 2 weeks after surgery. 3 days a week. I was told that I would be on crutches for 8-10 weeks following surgery. I was aggressive with the PT - I did all of the exercises they gave me at least 3 or 4 times a day. I was walking in 6 weeks, albeit with a major limp.

So that's where I'm at right now. I'm pretty limited in what I can do physically, I dont have great range of motion in my foot, and I still spend most of my time lying in bed. My leg still hurts pretty much all of the time and really starts to throb after walking for awhile, especially if I have to go up or down stairs.

I might have to get used to it - I might never walk right or run again. I think I will, but it will take time. It gets frustrating at times, but I just have to remember that I'm lucky I even have my right leg at all.

Crush injuries suck.
